Patterson UTI's relocation and restack transformed underutilized office space into a high performance workplace that supports around the clock operations while creating a client experience that showcases the company's capabilities.
Every element of the design was guided by intentionality. The client journey was carefully choreographed to create moments of discovery, from the sequence of spaces to the selection of materials and lighting. The experience begins in the Legacy Room, where an electrified privacy film conceals the operations floor before revealing it at the perfect moment. This introduction creates a memorable first impression and sets the tone for the rest of the tour. A custom wood veneer soffit extends throughout the space, serving as both a wayfinding element and a defining architectural feature. Integrated programmable lighting allows the soffit to reflect department identities, reinforce branding, or respond to visiting clients while highlighting the exposed industrial ceiling above.
The material palette was intentionally restrained to create a timeless, sophisticated environment. Rather than relying on permanent departmental color coding, the design uses layered textures, contrasting black, white, and gray finishes, and varied surface materials to create depth and visual interest. Color is introduced only through the programmable lighting, allowing the space to remain flexible while adapting to changing needs. Custom environmental graphics and a coordinated furniture package further support the client experience by creating comfortable gathering spaces, collaboration areas, and opportunities for storytelling throughout the workplace.
